The keynote speaker, Neil Pearce (President of the International Epidemiological Association) emphasized the importance of population perspective in epidemiology research, giving examples of research in which RCT-based paradigm developed for risk factor epidmiology did not work quite well. He urged us to adopt “multilevel thinking” as well as using multilevel methods of statistical analysis. |
| Mutlilevel methods of statistical analysis was the main topic covered in the Epidemilogy Seminar held the day before, and the packed audience of 100+ people listened in on the lecture. We were informed that “the times are changing from the days when you were only able to analyze repeated measurement data using methods such as two-way ANOVA.” | ![]() |
